Health & Beauty Forum- 12/11/16

On November 12th, 2016, the Clinical Dietitian Yiannis Kerimis held a lecture on

“Nutrition for anti-aging and prevention”.

The purpose of the lecture was to inform women about various beauty issues such anti-aging, natural cosmetics, cellulite reduction, foods that boost metabolism and in general proper nutrition for healthy hair, nails and skin. The lecture was part of the annual health and beauty forum.

“The 2km Stroller Walk by Baby Academy”

On October 30, 2016, the nonprofit organization Baby Academy organized the «The 2km Stroller Walk by Baby Academy» where parents and children had the opportunity to participate in a 2km walk.

The purpose of the event was to inform parents on topics such as prenatal classes, breastfeeding classes, psychological support for young mothers etc.

The program of the event included a 2km walk for gymnastics with prams, pregnancy yoga and a photo shoot with the theme “Normalize Breastfeeding”.

«Run as One» – 23/10/16

On October 23, 2016 the hypermarkets Alpha Mega in co operation with the Cyprus Dietetic association organized the 5 km  marathon race «Run as One». The purpose of the marathon was to promote to parents and children the importance of healthy nutrition and exercise.

“Pregnancy Nutrition/ The early years of the child”

On October 11, 2016  the Clinical Dietitian Yiannis Kerimis presented the lecture,”Nutrition during pregnancy and the early years of the child” at the premises of the nonprofit organization Baby Academy. The purpose of the lecture was to inform young mothers for nutrition during pregnancy, lactation and the transitioning from breastfeeding to solid foods.

Salad with quinoa, oranges and soft cheese

Ingredients:

(2 portions)

3 cups of Spinach or curly lettuce

a handful of raisins

3-4 tbsp cooked quinoa

2 oranges

1 Slice of Manouri cheese (Greek cheese)

2 tbsp olive oil

1 tsp honey

 

Process:

1.Add the leafy vegetables in a salad bowl. Top with raisins and quinoa.

2.Peel an orange and cut it into slices. Place it in your salad.
In a non-stick pan place the manouri cheese and bake it slightly until it gains a golden color. When it’s done place it in your salad bowl.

3.Squeeze the juice from the second orange, add olive oil and honey and stir it until it becomes homogenous. Drizzle your salad with the sauce.

Banana & Oat Muffins

Ingredients:

2 ½ cups oats (quick cooking)

1 low fat yogurt 2% (200g)

1 teaspoon vanilla

2 eggs

¾ cup stevia

1 ½ teaspoon baking powder

½ teaspoon baking soda

2 bananas

2 tbsp crushed hazelnuts or almonds

3 tablespoons milk

Process:

1.Place all ingredients, along with the bananas in a bowl and mix with a spatula until the bananas along with the ingredients turn into a homogenous mixture. Fill in the muffin forms and place them in the oven. Bake at 190c for 25 to 27 minutes. Once cooked pour with a spoon a little brown sugar on top of them.

On June 2016, as part of the event that has been held for the staff of the Technological University titled “Health Days and Wellness: Change habits, live with Health”, The clinical dietitian Yiannis Kerimis presented a lecture on “Healthy Nutrition at work”. The purpose of the lecture was the education of the university employees on healthy eating at the workplace.

Τhe municipal of Kato  Polemidia in cooperation with Intercollege and the open University of Citizens of the Nicosia University,organized a lecture entitled “Myths and Truths about Nutrition. Presenter: Ioannis Kerimis Clinical Dietitian-Nutritionist.

On May 22, 2015 as part of the exhibition “The modern working mother” , the Clinical Dietitian – Nutritionist Yiannis Kerimis presented the lecture “Nutrition for beauty and anti-aging” whilst the Plastic Surgeon Charis Zavrides presented the lecture  “Plastic Surgery: Science or Art” The lectures were held at Ajax hotel.

“From the brain to the plate”

On May 18, 2016 the nonprofit organization Europa Donna Cyprus organized the event “From the brain to the plate.”  The official speakers were the Clinical Dietitian – Nutritionist Yiannis Kerimis and the psychologist Stephanie Christodoulou. Together, they explained to the public how diet is linked to psychology and how psychology affects appetite. The net proceeds of the event were given to Europa Donna Cyprus in support to women who’ve been through breast cancer.
