Α. Measurement of Body Fat and Composition
Body Fat Measurement is the process of evaluating the percentage of body fat, either by using body fat calipers, or with the help of bio-electrical impedance analysis.
By calculating the body composition, we are able to find out an individual’s percentage of fat, muscle mass, hydration and visceral fat (the fat found around our vital organs such as the heart, liver, etc), and this is an important tool for people who follow an exercise regimen or diet.
Our aim is to maintain or increase muscle mass, hydrate cells and decrease body and visceral fat for the proper functioning of all vital organs.
Β. Measurement of Metabolic Rate
Metabolism is a process of chemical reactions within the body. An increased metabolism helps individuals lose weight, whilst people with a slow metabolism lose weight at a slower rate. A proper diet can help regulate and subsequently increase the metabolic rate.
The metabolic rate can be measured using a special device whereupon the individual lies back comfortably and places a mask on his or her face. This mask measures the person’s basic metabolic rate based on the amount of carbon dioxide exhaled.
